Why “baanc”?
I am often asked what this name means or how to pronounce it. So here is a fun little story of how it started.
To set the stage, it was an average Friday at my French high school. My friends and I had reached our 4th period class, and the weekend was in sight. Exhausted from the week, we were doing more laughing and joking than real studying. One joke that ended up sticking was “banc”. It is derived from the name Benjamin, pronounced in French. From there, they dropped the -jamin part of my name and just said Ben with a “French accent”. That sounded similar to the French word bench (ie. banc), and from that moment forward, my nickname was “banc”. Months later, when signing up for a PlayStation Plus subscription, I had to create my own username for online play. The first thing I tried was banc, but it was taken. Then I tried “baanc” since it was often said with extra emphasis on the “a” sound amongst my peers. That worked, and now I have this awesome username for gaming online and a unique domain name for my website!
